Mrs. Betty Whitten Hieber, age 95, a native of Atlanta, passed away on January 13, 2016. She was affectionately called "Butchie" by her husband, a family nickname that quite possibly came from her days with the Atlanta Roller Derby as a young woman. Betty was a devoted mother and wife who was self-employed as a very skilled reweave before retirement. She was a member of the Garden Hills Community, loved to travel and had a true zest for life.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph as well as her parents, William and Bessie; brother, Howard; sister, Evelyn Reaves; daughter-in-law, Debbie Hieber and son-in-law, Jay Smith.
She is survived by sons, Ron (Fran) Hieber, Denny Hieber, Larry Hieber and Tim Hieber; daughter, Kathy Hieber-Smith; former daughters-in-law, Rae and Tammy; grandchildren, Tyler, Wesley, Joshua, Abby, Jordan, Elijah, Amy (Bobby) Goff, Bryan (Stephanie), William, Jessica, Jennifer, Caroline and Keeley Hieber; great- grandchildren, Caden, Madison and Evan Goff, and Dylan Hieber; and many extended family members and friends.
