Fletcher Tarpley Poole

December 28, 1927 — May 6, 2009

Mr. Fletcher Tarpley Poole, 81, of Lilburn, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009.  He was a native of Atlanta and graduated from Druid Hills High School.  Mr. Poole was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II, having served with the occupational forces in Japan.  He attended Maryville College in Tennessee and graduated from Georgia State College in 1954. He retired from Atlanta Federal Savings and Loan, where he worked for over 35 years.  Mr. Poole was a long time member of Stone Mountain United Methodist Church, as well as a volunteer with The Boy Scouts, Troop 462 in Decatur.  He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Deas Poole; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Chris Slack of Mound, MN; son and daughter-in-law, Fletcher and Julie Poole of Conyers; grandchildren, Benjamin S. Roberts, Robert F. Poole, Christine M. Poole; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Joan Poole of Waleska; and several nieces.  Graveside services will be held Monday, May 11th at 11:00 A.M. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, with Rev. Joy Brown officiating.  Those desiring may send memorial contributions to the Salvation Army, USA Southern Territory, 1424 Northeast Expressway, Atlanta, GA  30329-2088.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Saturday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
