Maryann Goodwin

MaryAnn O’Shinski Goodwin of Decatur, Georgia passed away at the age of 64 on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 with her family by her side.

MaryAnn was born to Willie and Julia O’Shinski on December 26, 1954 in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from Avondale High School and then went on to graduate from DeKalb Technical College after which she worked at First National Bank in Atlanta.

MaryAnn married her high school sweetheart, Jim Goodwin, in 1975, and together for the next 43 years, they built a life of love and happiness and a lot of fun! They resided in Lithonia, and then for many years in Conyers, Georgia before recently settling in Decatur.

MaryAnn is survived by her loving husband, Jim Goodwin, her father-in-law, Hugh Goodwin, and her four children, Michael Goodwin (Julie Goodwin), Kathy Givens (Ryan Givens), Christy Carleton (George Carleton), and Mary Wernette (Ben Wernette). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Jessica Goodwin, Charlie Goodwin, Jason Goodwin, JonMichael Goodwin, Ricky Givens, Jack Givens, and Oberle Carleton. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Julia O’Shinski and her mother-in-law Barbara Goodwin

MaryAnn’s life was centered around her great love and care for her family. Her beautiful heart and smile will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind only beautiful memories, and she will forever be missed and forever be loved.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at A.S. Turner Funeral Home in Decatur.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 9 at 2:00pm at McDonough First United Methodist Church in McDonough, Georgia with graveside service to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in McDonough.
