Stefanie Keller passed away on December 15, 2012 at the age of 53, following a long and courageous fight with Stage IV lung and brain cancer. She was born Stefanie Chu in Hong Kong in 1959. She became fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. She attended school in London before moving to Atlanta for a job opportunity. She loved this country and fulfilled her dream of living here until her passing. One of her friends said that Stefanie was more American than anyone she knew. On September 22, 2006, Stefanie married her true love, Harry Keller. She was a beloved wife and step-mother to his two daughters, Kimberly and Maryann. Stefanie is leaving a legacy of impacting many lives with her love of children, family, friends, and music. She was a piano teacher, and many of her piano students have gone on to have accomplished successful music careers. When she was ill, one of them sat at her bedside, held her hand, and told her how much she had influenced his life with her patient teaching. Her husband, Harry, had always wanted to play the piano; although Harry had tried many times in the past to learn piano, he was not successful until Stefanie taught him how to play in two weeks. Stefanie has requested that her ashes be spread onto the Appalachian Trail where she learned to hike, develop camping skills, and assist the leader of the hikes. Being outdoors in this way is a highly unusual thing for a Hong Kong born girl. Doing this was one of her favorite achievements. One of her greatest qualities was being hysterically funny, but in a gentle way. Other qualities used to describe Stefanie include her independence, strength, love of making friends, upstanding morals, and loyalty. She is survived by her husband, Harry, stepdaughters, Kimberly and Maryann, mother, Li Chi Ying, sister, Winnie, and three brothers, Michael, Stephen, and Raymond. Donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday December 19 in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8: 00 pm.
