Wayne Scott Gibson

Wayne Scott Gibson, 49, of Decatur, Georgia passed away unexpectedly on January 8, 2013. He was the beloved son of Patricia Ann Gibson, and brother of Robert S. Gibson, both of Decatur, who survive. Mr. Gibson is also survived by sister-in-law Mary Ellen McElhattan, niece Caroline R. Gibson and her husband, Zack Avery, and great-niece, Anna Clair Avery, all of Decatur, his uncle, Gary Jones and aunt, Portia Jones. He was predeceased by his father, James William (Billy) Gibson, step-mother, Vicki Gibson and step-father, James McSpadden. Born December 5, 1963, Mr. Gibson was a graduate of Columbia High School, class of 1982, and attended DeKalb College. He was employed by Delta Airlines for twenty-five years, where he was well-regarded by his fellow employees and will be missed. Mr. Gibson was an avid and accomplished bowler, having bowled a perfect game at the Glenwood Lanes in Decatur. He also competed regularly in tournaments throughout the country, winning many trophies. He had many friends throughout the local and national bowling community who will miss his skills and companionship. Wayne was a loving and wonderful son, a thoughtful and caring brother and uncle who is already missed by all who knew him. A tribute to Wayne's life will begin at 6 PM, at which time friends are invited to share their memories. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, Decatur, Georgia.
