Ada Rawlins Pruitt

Ada Rawlins Wilkes Pruitt "Ada from Decatur" died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 following an extended illness.  She was 96 years old. She was preceded in death by her first husband Emmett Laurens Wilkes and by her second husband Paul Lee Pruitt.  Ada was born in Snellville, Georgia, but moved to Lawrenceville, Georgia when she was 2, where she graduated from Lawrenceville High School.  She moved to Decatur, Georgia after graduation.  She graduated from Crichton's Business College and Central Night School. She worked for Investors Diversified before her first marriage.  She and Emmett had 2 daughters-Ada Eugenia Wilkes and Esther Laurie Wilkes.  She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur, which she joined in 1944.  After her children were in high school, she worked as a Legal Secretary in Decatur.  She is survived by daughters Eugenia "Genie" Massingale and husband Ken and Laurie Fountain and husband Jim, grandchildren Stephen "Steve" Massingale and wife Yoko, David Fountain and wife Lynn, and Lee Fountain, as well as beloved great grandchildren Joshua and Kristen Massingale and Hannah Fountain. Visitation will be Friday, March 14, 2008, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, 2773 North Decatur Rd., Decatur, GA.  Her funeral will be Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 10:30 am in the Chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Opportunity Center, 1100 Washington St., Huntsville, AL 35801; Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, Inc., 1775 Clairmont Rd, Decatur, GA 30033 or First Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairemont Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030.  A.
