Adam Michael Mewherter, 44, of Atlanta, Georgia, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009. He was born May 26, 1965 in Greensburg, PA. Adam was a 1983 graduate of Derry Area High School and a former trombonist in the United States Army Band. He graduated from the Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in music education and a master’s degree in jazz studies. Adam was a popular musician in the Atlanta area; playing in a variety of bands, orchestras, churches, festivals, and videos. He also played for many years with “King Johnson.” He was a creative and talented musician who could play any instrument in any genre.
He was predeceased by his mother, June Rose Mewherter, in 1974. Survivors include his father, Leroy Mewherter and his wife, Deborah, of New Derry, PA.; a brother, Alan, and his wife, Lisa, of Ft. Meade, MD; two sisters, Leanne Harty, and husband, Collin, of Stafford Springs, Connecticut, and Sharon Nokovich and husband Michael, of Marshall, Virginia. He is also survived by his former wife, Susan Kraft, his niece, Hannah Mewherter, and nephews Andrew Mewherter and Michael Nokovich.
