Adeline Cornell Atwood Hubbard, of Atlanta and Darien, GA, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2008. She was born in Darien, GA on September 27, 1908 to Mattie and Elliott Atwood and was preceded in death by her dear husband, William D. Hubbard. After graduating college, Mrs. Hubbard taught school in south Georgia before moving to Atlanta. She taught American history and government and headed up many school organizations in the DeKalb County school system at Southwest DeKalb and Columbia High Schools, where she is remembered as a no-nonsense teacher who always expected you to do your very best. Mrs. Hubbard loved the tidewater country in and around Darien and, as often as she could, visited the area. She is survived by cousins, Llewellyn Perry of Asheville, NC, Margaret Berge of Merritt Island, FL, Sue Alexander of Oak Grove, MO, Judy Black of Estes Park, CO, Peggy and George Guerrero of Coco Beach, FL, Glenn Hud dn of Pensacola, FL; other nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and neighbors, who lovingly remember her. A graveside service at the Atwood Cemetery in Valona, GA will be conducted by Rev. Ted Clarkson on d iday, July 18th at 10:00 A.M., to be followed by a memorial service in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, 2773 N. Decatur Rd., Decatur, GA on Sunday, July 20th at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospace Atlanta, 1244 Park Vista Dr., Atlanta, GA 30319. Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
