Agnes B. Cofer

Agnes Britt Cofer, 92, passed away on September 2, 2014 at her home in Decatur, Ga, less than 6 months after the death of Troyce, her beloved husband of almost 72 years. She was born to Jim and Estelle Britt in Atlanta, Ga. Growing up in the Center Hill area of Atlanta, she attended Fulton High School, where she excelled academically. After high school she began a long career involving bookkeeping, accounting and office management with several Atlanta companies including Atlantic Steel, Sellers Truck Service Inc, Sophie Mae Candies and Sun Valley Distributors. As successful as Agnes was in the business field, her family was first in her life. She was devoted to all family but especially loved her role as wife, mother and grandmother. Agnes and Troyce were blessed with many wonderful friends throughout the years, enjoying entertaining, dancing, travel, volunteering. Strong in her Christian faith she was an active member of Brookhaven Baptist Church and later Briarcliff Baptist. In addition, Agnes was an accomplished seamstress, exceptional southern style cook and an astute financial investor. A high energy person, she made the most of her abilities and her time. Agnes enjoyed life to the fullest, influencing those that knew and loved her. She will be missed. It was a life well lived. She is survived by sons Jimmy and wife Susy of Marietta, Ga; Fred and wife Carolyn of Palm Bay, Fl; grandchildren Jesse, Leigh, John, Thomas and his wife Ivy; great grandchildren Peyton, Macy Rae and Finnegan. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, Martha. The family will be present at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home, 2773 N. Decatur Rd, Decatur Ga 30033 at 1:00 PM, Monday, September 8, 2014 for visitation, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. Presiding will be the Reverend Paul Millarc of Briarcliff Baptist Church. Interment will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 3000 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, Ga.
