Agnes Delores Blake

Agnes Dolores Blake was born in Westminster, MD on June 30, 1934 to John and Beatrice Frisby. She made a peaceful transition into the glory of God on October 22, 2016.

Agnes graduated from Robert Moton High School in 1952. She was raised in Westminster, MD until the age of 19, when she moved to New York City and obtained a Nurses Aide position. She later graduated from the University of the State of New York in 1969 and practiced nursing as an LPN at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. She worked at Kings County Hospital for 32 years.

Agnes met Douglas Blake, the love of her life, in 1962. They raised five children and showed them all the value of family, life, handwork, and love. Agnes and Doug loved traveling, meeting new people, and experiencing new cultures. She also loved restaurants, interior decorating, and shopping.

Agnes and Doug later relocated to the Atlanta Metro Area where Agnes became a proud member of the Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church also known as House of Hope Atlanta. Agnes was baptized and became a proud member of the ERSS Choir. She loved her church, her choir, and especially her Pastor, Dr. E. Dewey Smith Jr.

Agnes had a contagious love that drew family and friends alike. Her love for family led her to raise many of her grandchildren which included instilling a Godly heritage in them.
God and church were the cornerstones of the values she taught her children and grandchildren. Agnes had a special relationship with each of her children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends.

Agnes' faith in God was indeed her source of strength as she battled against her illness. She struggled with dignity and courage up to the moment the Lord called her home, on the evening of October 22, 2016. Agnes had help at home during this time from family, friends, and her caregiver, Christine Bowden, whom she loved dearly.

Agnes leaves, to cherish her memory, her loving children Nancy Willis, Paulette Cuttino, Steven Griffin, and Pamela Blake-Clavell.

Her surviving siblings are Dorothy Thornton, Harriet Hill, and Charlotte Willis of New Windsor, MD, Frances Daughton of Sparks, MD, Barbara Outen of Owings Mill, MD, and John Frisby of Westminster, MD.

Agnes leaves behind her 13 grandchildren Joyce Carroll, Monique Willis, Manuel Cuttino, Steven Griffin II, Janée Blake, Lorenzo Cuttino, Armonde Blake, Grace Cuttino, Imena Blake, Montese Blake, Nailah Blake, Tamari Blake, and Meeko Clavell.

Agnes also has 10 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Blake, her daughter Saundra Blake, her granddaughters Melody Divine Clavell and Angela Cuttino, and her great great grandson Dajuan Demetric Robinson (Tiki).

Her funeral services will be at 12:00 pm on Monday October 31 at the Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church (House of Hope Atlanta). The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory.
