Mrs. Agnes W. Shockley, 86, of Decatur, died Saturday, August 22, 2009. She was born to William A. Williams and Essie Garner Williams on June 1, 1923 in Stone Mountain. Mrs. Shockley graduated from Atlanta Girls High School, class of 1941 and the University of Georgia, Athens in 1945. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Mrs. Shockley played drums in the Atlanta Girls Military Band. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, W. Donald Williams and sister Hilda William Bailey. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles G. Shockley, Sr. of Decatur; son, Charles G. “Chas” Shockley, Jr. of Tallahassee, FL; daughter, Sandrea S. Gamsby of St. Albans, VT; three grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church with the body lying in state from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Rev. Fred Pitts and Rev. Larry T. Burgess will officiate. Interment, Floral Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eagle Ranch, P.O. Box 7200, Chestnut Mountain, GA 30502 or Georgia Lions Light House Foundation, 1775 Clairmont Rd., Decatur, GA 30033. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at A. S. Turner & Sons.
