Agnes Scott Willoch (always called "Mickey") died on December 11, 2024. A native of
Metro Atlanta, she was born August 16,1934. She grew up in Decatur, GA, and attended Winnona Park Elementary and Decatur Girls High School. She graduated from Agnes Scott College with honors in 1955, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science. She was the daughter of Annie Pope Bryan Scott and Milton Candler Scott, and a great granddaughter of the founder of Agnes Scott College. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Raymond Willoch; grandson T. Scott Willoch; and her three sisters, Anne Scott Wilkinson, Betty Pope Scott Noble, and Nellie Scott Pritchett.
Mickey Scott married Raymond Willoch, a Georgia Tech graduate and letterman in football, in December 1955, at Decatur Presbyterian Church. She lived in Texas and Florida for 3 years while her husband served in the U.S. Air Force. Returning to Metro Atlanta, they lived for many years and raised their children in Avondale Estates, followed by many years in Smoke Rise, Stone Mountain, GA.
Mickey was a member of Decatur Presbyterian Church since birth, where she served as Secretary of Presbyterian Women, as well as on the Mission Committee, and was a longtime member of the Crusaders Class and Pastor's Aides. In addition, she was an active and sustaining member of the Junior League of DeKalb County. She worked as a substitute teacher for DeKalb County schools for some years. Mickey played team tennis for Druid Hills Golf Club for decades on ALTA and USTA teams. Her senior USTA team won their level and were Georgia State champions in 1990 in Rome, Georgia.
Mickey is survived by: her three children - Susan Willoch Shaver, Raymond Scott Willoch, and Lisa Willoch Ortlip (Ben); 12 surviving grandchildren - Jennifer S. Penta (Fabio), Elizabeth S. Coxwell (Jesse), Brian A. Willoch, Raymond Price Willoch, Ellen Ortlip Stinson (Graeme), Kathryn Ortlip, Jane Ortlip Victory (Jack), Karsten B. Ortlip, Rachel Ortlip, Adam Ortlip, Stefan Ortlip and Aaron Ortlip; six great grandchildren - Conner Ryan Coxwell, Ella Ray Coxwell, Brooklyn Penta, Savannah Coxwell, Noah Coxwell, and Atticus Bjorn Willoch; and several nieces and nephews - Betty Scott Noble, Phil Noble Jr. (Nancy) and children, Cathy Wilkinson, and David M. Wilkinson (Patsy) and daughters.
A memorial service will be held on January 4, 2025, at 12:00 noon in the sanctuary of Decatur Presbyterian Church, preceded by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. in Decatur Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be sent to Decatur Presbyterian Church, 205 Sycamore St., Decatur, GA 30030.
