Aileen Stephenson, 87, of Lithonia, Georgia died on February 1, 2012 after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her husband John W. Stephenson, who passed away in 2009 at the age of 90. She was the daughter of Henry and Pearl Parmer of LaGrange, GA. She is survived by all 5 of her children (4 daughters and 1 son), Sylvia Moran (husband Charles) or Tucker, GA, Joy Botkin of Savannah, GA, Denise Laird (husband Lamar), Nan Clark of McDonough, GA, and John Stephenson (wife Frances) of Greenville, SC. In addition she is survived by a special granddaughter, Beth of McDonough, GA and grandchildren, Angie, Jimmy, Kim, Matthew, Terry, Steve, Will, and Patrick. In addition are great-grandchildren, Chase, Ellis, Carter, Savanah, and Avery Grace along with numerous nieces and nephews. Aileen grew up in LaGrange, GA and graduated from Piedmont Nursing School in 1947 and was a Registered Nurse (RN) for her entire career working at the Scottish Rite Hospital and other area hospitals. During her life she was an active member of East Side Baptist Church and Ellenwood First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and being with her family during the holidays most of all. Many thanks to the staff at Montclair Personal Care, who have been an important part of her life for the past three years. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur, GA. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2 PM at Hillandale Memorial Gardens in Lithonia, GA. Rev. Jennifer Hornbuckle will be officiating.
