Mr. Lynn Alan Kenton passed on June 18, 2018, comfortably at home after a three-year battle with Parkinson’s/Lewy Body Dementia. Alan is survived by his loving wife, Lynda, his two daughters Tracy Taylor (Mike) and Kelly Fink (Bill), three grandchildren: Tanner and Carsyn Fink, and Jack Taylor; and sisters Beverly Mason Askren (Jim) and Nancy Dodd (Don). Alan was born in Missouri, but made his life in Decatur, Georgia. He was dedicated to his church, Decatur Presbyterian Church and was honored June 4, 2017, for “Alan Kenton Day” for his service to the church. His hobbies included tennis, biking, and golfing, but the love of his life was his wife of nearly 52 years, Lynda, and he also treasured his wonderful daughters, and his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Buddy.” An avid Georgia Bulldogs fan and member of Lambda Chi Alpha, Alan got his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from UGA. He started his career at Georgia Power, and went on to become a manager at Aetna. Next, he became an independent agent at Warringer Insurance and in the 1980s, became a partner in Townley Kenton Insurance Agency, until his recent retirement.
Alan was preceded in death by his father and mother, Alfred and Neola Belle Kenton.
