Dr. Albert H. Fregosi passed away on December 24, 2009. He was 91 years old. He is survived by his wife of 61



            








   

        

            

        

   



            

years, Betty Carroll Fregosi; his daughters and sons- in-law, Giulia and Jim Galvin and Andrea and Roger



            








   

        

            

        

   



            

Massell and his son and daughter-in-Law, Bert and Carroll Scott Fregosi; six grandsons, Jim, Michael, and

Boccia.  Dr. Fregosi was born in Proctor, VT on February 19th, 1918, the son of Alfeo Fregosi and Giulia Ratti



            








   

        

            

        

   



            

Fregosi. He played all sports in high school and played freshman baseball at UC Berkeley before transferring



            








   

        

            

        

   



            

to Syracuse where he graduated. He then went to The University of Vermont College of Medicine where he



            








   

        

            

        

   



            

earned his medical degree. He enlisted in the US Army as a captain and served as a physician in the infantry



            








   

        

            

        

   



            

in the South Pacific until the end of WW II. He received a Purple Heart for injuries. He completed his residency



            








   

        

            

        

   



            

in general surgery at Crawford W Long where he met and married his wife, Betty. He taught anatomy and



            








   

        

            

        

   



            

physiology to Emory dental students while at Crawford Long. Following his residency he and Betty moved back



            








   

        

            

        

   



            

to Vermont where he began his medical practice as a GP and general surgeon. In 1956 he completed a



            








   

        

            

        

   



            

second residency in urology at Dartmouth. Afterwards he and his family moved to Augusta, Georgia where he



            








   

        

            

        

   



            

taught for 2 years at The Medical College of Georgia. He practiced urology in Decatur, Georgia from 1959 until



            








   

        

            

        

   



            

1976, when he retired due to a medical disability. He cared for patients at Crawford Long, Georgia Baptist,



            








   

        

            

        

   



            

Egelston, Dekalb General, where he served as chief of staff and Decatur Hospital. Because of his love of sports



            

he was honored to serve as the team physician of Dekalb County Schools, notably Briarcliff High School. Dr. Fergosi and Betty were actively involved in their church and home bible studies.  He was well loved by his patients, fellow physicians and hospital staffs.  We will miss you greatly.  We love you and thank you for being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 31st at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Pastor Charles McLeod officiating.  Entombment, Floral Hills Memory Gardens.  For those who prefer, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 760 Pollard Blvd., Atlanta, GA  30315.  Friends are invited to visit with the family Wednesday afternoon from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at A. S. Turner & Sons.
