Albert Winfred Head of Covington, Georgia passed away on October 5, 2015. Albert enjoyed life to the fullest and was blessed with a loving wife, Joan, for 65 years. He dedicated his life to his God, his family, and his fellow man all the days of his life, leading others as a mentor in multiple fraternal organizations. He was a member of Golden Fleece Masonic Lodge #6 in Covington, Georgia, the Royal Arch Masonic Chapter #71, the Grand Council of Georgia #41, Knights Templar Commandery #25, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite as a 33° Valley of Atlanta, Grand Council of High Priests of Georgia, Georgia Council (Order of the Silver Trowel), Carl F. Lester Jr. Knight Masons Council #65, Red Cross of Constantine- Saint Ambrose Conclave (Atlanta, GA)-Puissant Sovereign 1996, Past Potentate of Yaarab Temple and Cabiri Life Member (Potentate 1978), Allied Masonic Degrees (Zarthan Council #329 AMD), Eastside Scottish Rite Association-Past and First President, Luther g. Palmer York Rite College #123, Yaarab Temple Patrol Unit, Order of the Purple Cross-York Rite Sovereign College, Past Grand Chaplain of Royal Arch Masons (2008-2009 & 2103-2014), and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. During the Korean War he was proud to serve our nation as a member of the United States Naval Reserve.
He started his working career in accounting with Chevrolet and retired from the Joe N. Guy Construction Company. While living in Calhoun, Georgia, he became active in politics and was elected as a City Councilman and was President of the Chamber of Commerce for Gordon County.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; daughter, Connie Head, of Knoxville, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Emily Head, of Tifton, GA; and grandchildren, Caitlin McCall, Ceilia McCall, and Anna Head. He will always be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, fantastic and involved father, and playful and protective grandfather. While his spirit has gone on to be with the Lord, his legacy remains and grows even greater still.
There will be a viewing at A.S. Turner and Sons in Decatur, Georgia on Wednesday, October 7th from 6:30 until 8:30; Chapel service at Turner on Thursday, October, 8th at noon; and a Masonic Graveside service immediately following the Chapel service at Westview in Atlanta. Flowers will be accepted as will donations in his honor to the Shriners Hospitals for Burned and Crippled Children and the Masonic Children's Home. A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
