Born October 7, 1928 in Tupelo, MS, died June 25, 2009 in Decatur, GA. She was the daughter of Alice Adams and John Pitman Hunter, both deceased, and the sister of Catherine Hunter Sadler and John P. Hunter, both deceased, as well as Fraser Lee Hunter of Southern Pines, NC. She is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Thomas K. Patterson, her son Tom Patterson, Jr. of Winston-Salem, NC, and her daughters Calli Patterson of Montgomery, AL and Jill Patterson Tolbert of Decatur, GA, as well as her son-in-laws, Kimble Forrister and Joel Tolbert. She was pre-deceased, in 1996, by son John Hunter Patterson of Atlanta, GA. In addition, she was much loved by her six grandchildren: Ned Hunter Coleman, Sarah Alice Coleman, Adam Owen Tolbert, Clare Patterson Forrister, Daniel Hunter Tolbert, and Michael Thomas Tolbert. Alice Patterson, or “Attee,” as she was known by many, graduated from Tupelo High school in 1946, and attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA before transferring and then graduating from the University of Mississippi in 1950. Upon graduation, she married Tommy Patterson, also of Tupelo, MS, and they lived in Nashville, TN, Vidalia, GA, and finally Dublin, GA, where they lived for over fifty years, raising all four of their children there. Always an active member of the Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church, she served as an Elder, taught Sunday School, and served as both President of the Women of the Church and Moderator of Presbyterian Women. In addition to holding an honorary life membership in Presbyterian Women, she held many other offices within the Presbyterian Church, (U.S.A.), both locally and on the presbytery level. She was a 1993 graduate of the Savannah Presbytery School of the Laity. Patterson was also active in volunteer work in Dublin, including Cub Scouts, Girls Scouts, and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Forthian Club and the Dublin Service League. After moving to Decatur in 2007, she joined Rehoboth Presbyterian Church, the Third Thursday Book Club, and the Pine Glen Ladies Club. Arrangements will be made by A.S. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Rehoboth Presbyterian Church in Decatur, GA, and on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church in Dublin, GA.
