Alice Mae Becker

Alice Mae (Joiner) Becker, age 92, of Decatur, GA passed away peacefully on March 6, 2013. She was born on April 7, 1920 in Hawkinsville, GA to John Larkin and Sophie Elizabeth (Bennett) Joiner. She married Richard G. Becker on July 2, 1942 in New Orleans, LA and he passed on March 3, 2009. Alice was a loving mother and wife. Surviving are 3 sons, Bill (Marcia) Becker, Rick (Debbie) Becker, Bob (Lynne) Becker; son-in-law, Phil Leftwich; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded by her daughter, Betty Leftwich; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.Alice had a passion for cooking and loved camping. Her hobbies included arts and crafts; reading, music and playing the piano. She was an avid Braves Fan. She was member of Scott Boulevard Baptist Church, where she was in the choir and Hand Bell Choir. She was a leader in the Camp Fire Girls, Den Mother for the Cub Scouts; served as past president of Decatur Homemakers Club and belonged to the Lions Womens Auxillary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2:00 PM in the Chapel of A.S. Turner Funeral Home with interment services to follow in Floral Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received from 6-8 PM on Friday at the funeral home. A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
