Allene Futch Atwood

Mrs. Allene C. Atwood, age 87, of Stone Mountain died Wednesday, December 14, 2005. She taught school for many years and worked as the school Food Service Director with Jackson County in Florida until retiring in 1976. Mrs. Atwood had the ability to help people selflessly. She loved music, traveling, fishing, and the beach. She was very active in the Methodist Church and had many cultural interests. She is survived by her daughter, Mozelle Funderburk; sons, Max B. Atwood, Jr. of Glade Spring, VA, James T. Atwood of Torrance, CA; grandchildren, Eve F. Brantley, Wes Funderburk, Tianna Atwood; one great grandchild, Chloe Brantley; and sister, Mrs. Dorothy Mundy of Tappahannock, VA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17th in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. Rev Ellynda Lipsey will officiate. Interment will be at Pinecrest Cemetery on December 19th at 3:00 p.m. CST in Marianna, FL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, 2250 N. Druid Hills Rd., N.E., Atlanta, GA 30329 or the Immune Deficiency Foundation, P.O. Box 758695, Baltimore, MD 21275. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
