Alverda G. Thomas

Alverda G. Thomas was born in Atlanta on July 31, 1908. Miss Thomas died on Sunday, November 4, 2007. She was the beloved daughter of Jesse Herbert Thomas and Sibyl LeHew Thomas. Miss Thomas retired from Southern Bell (now AT&T) in 1973 after 45 years of faithful service. She directed many after-hours employee activities and was also very active in the Telephone Pioneers of America, an organization of long service employees. She had an unusual gift for friendships. She was a member of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. There are no immediate survivors. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 6, 2007 in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. Dr. Dean Hahn will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
