Alvin Carey Vasilios Galloway was born in Talladega, Alabama into a large family of 10 brothers and sisters. As a child, he loved sports and later at 13, had his first job as a paperboy. After graduating from Talladega High School, he served in the Air Force and was stationed in Korea. During this time, he was also stationed in Athens, Greece where he extended his stay to wait for his future wife, Katerina to return from school in Glasgow. He and Katerina got married in Athens, Greece and later, Debra Eleni, their first child, was born.

After 3 years, they moved to Birmingham, Alabama and soon made their roots in Atlanta, Georgia, where their 2nd child, Jackie Maria was born. He began his career as an engineer at Western Electric and later retired from AT&T. After moving to Atlanta he became baptized in the Greek Orthodox Annunciation Cathedral, where he eagerly was involved in many aspects of the church. He was a GOYA youth advisor for his daughters, basketball coach, softball coach, Greek Festival chairperson, Church parish council member and Church President. You would always find him in church with a smile on his face welcoming you to church or catching up with him over some coffee and cookies. After many years of faithful service to the church, he was nominated to be an Archon of the Greek Eucimenial Patrichachate. He spent many summers in Greece with his family and traveled many times to Holy Land to deepen his faith. He immersed his life in serving the church as a faithful Orthodox Christian, and as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 87. To many, he was a trusted friend, youth mentor, valued member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox church in Atlanta, To his family, he was a devoted father, loving Papou, and one of a kind. He is survived by his wife Katerina, his 2 daughters, Debra Eleni Alexander (Steve), and Jackie Mara Goodson (Alex), and 5 grandchildren Stevie Stylianos, Nicholas Vasilios, Michael Constantine, Evan Alexandros ,and Dino Vasilios. The family asks for your prayers.

The visitation prayer service will be Tuesday February 4, 2025 at 10:00 am
