Ammon Thomas Timberlake III, "Tommy", passed away on Saturday June 25, 2016, at the age of 78. Tommy accomplished many things in his long life. He served in the Army for many years with the 101st "Screaming Eagles" Airborne Division. During the 1970's and 80's, in Atlanta, Tommy was a restaurant entrepreneur. He opened many notable restaurants including Copperfield's, Colorado Mining Company, The Bank Note, The Beef Cellar, Apple Annie's, The Timberlake Sandwich Shop, TJ's, The Chalet, Hal's Friendly Tavern and more. His restaurants were known for great food and great atmosphere, thanks to Tommy. After retiring from the restaurant business, Tommy enjoyed painting and sketching as well as traveling up to the North Georgia Mountains with his wife.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents Ammon "Tim" and Martha and his siblings Marguerite Timberlake, Lee Timberlake and Mary Timberlake. He is leaving behind his wife Patricia Timberlake and three children: Kathryn Hilliard of Kennesaw and Troy Rickett of Florida, and his fur-daughter Sofia Rose. Tommy also leaves behind three grandchildren, Jesse, Cody and Zachary Rickett of Florida as well as his sisters, Teresa, Vicki and Lynne, his cousin Gary Timberlake and his nieces and nephews; Shawn Timberlake, Thomas LaTorre, Tammie Talley, Hope Hodges, Kaylen Towers and Billy Towers.
Tommy will be remembered for the joy he brought to many people through his restaurants, stories, paintings and his heart. A celebration of life will be held on July 16, 2016 at 3pm in the Chapel of AS Turner and Sons Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors for 2 hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to make a donation in honor of Ammon Thomas Timberlake III to the Disabled American Veterans Charity.
