Amogene Caldwell Oliver, 91, of Hendersonville, NC, formerly of Decatur, GA, died November 24, 2005 in Hendersonville. She was married for 68 years to James Luther Oliver, who died last month. Born in Atlanta, GA, Amogene grew up in Lilburn, GA but lived in the Atlanta area for 60 years. She had successful careers as a homemaker, a bookkeeper, and a public information officer. She was member of Peachtree Baptist Church in Atlanta since 1945 where she held every office open to a woman of her generation. She is survived by two daughters, Jane Swafford of Hendersonville, NC and Ruth Ann Fleming of Littleton, CO; a son Jim Oliver of Asheville, NC; a nephew, Bill Caldwell of Easley, SC; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. A joint memorial service for both Amogene and Luther will be held in Atlanta Saturday, December 3rd at Peachtree Baptist Church at 3:00, following a private family burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peachtree Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 Friday, December 2nd at A. S. Turner & Sons in Decatur.
