Andrea Dian Taylor Johnson, age 62, passed away at Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.
At the time of her passing, Andrea was a resident of Washington, Georgia, but prior to 2018, she lived entirely in the Atlanta area.
Andrea, the eldest of four children born on October 5, 1956 to Ira Edmond Taylor and Shirley Ann Bowen Taylor, graduated from Briarcliff High School in Atlanta and attended Stratford Women’s College. She had many administrative talents and worked for many years in executive support roles. She was very innovative and was a self-taught computer “guru”. At the time of her death, she was self-employed. Andrea was also great in the kitchen and none will forget her “Salsa-Rea”! It was a “must have” at every gathering of family and friends! She was an energetic, loving, creative and talented woman who loved her family and friends deeply. Andrea had a love of music, art, movies and all things that brought beauty to her surroundings. She was also a gifted singer and pianist.
All who knew and loved her were acquainted with the courageous battle she waged against liver disease since her diagnosis in 2010 and she remained in need of a transplant at the time of her death. No matter what she was going through, she displayed great optimism and the light of her spirit always shown brightly. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Andrea is survived by her three beloved children, Robert Alex Johnson, Taylor Ann Johnson and James Andrew Johnson; cherished granddaughter, Scarlett Dian Johnson; former spouse, James Arvid Johnson; three siblings, Ira Alan Taylor (wife Janet), Virginia Taylor Brody (husband Jay) and Robert Joel Taylor (fiancé’ Lori); and Aunts Barbara Bowen Hicks and Pam Taylor, nieces Katie Taylor Mayeux and Leah Brody, and nephew, William Taylor; great-niece, Lilyana Neal. She is also survived by numerous cousins and life-long friends whom she loved deeply.
Andrea was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Edmond Taylor and Shirley Bowen Taylor; paternal grandparents Ira H. and Virginia R. Taylor and maternal grandparents Arthur and Edith Bowen; aunt, Gertrude King and uncles Charles “Chuck” Bowen and Joel Earl Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be made to the National Foundation for Transplants or the Piedmont Hospital Foundation.
