Ann Bove Vella, 84, of Decatur, died February 26, 2013. Bon February 1, 1929, in Newark, New Jersey, to Carmine and Nicolina DeCaprio Vella, Mrs. Vella was the youngest of five children. She devoted her entire adult life to her family, church, work and community, while residing in Newark NJ, Union NJ, Sunrise FL, The Villages of Lady Lake FL, before moving to Decatur in 2010. Mrs. Vella's career outside the home included time with Liberty Mutual Life Insurance in Newark, New Jersey, Food Services Union with the New Jersey Public Schools, Food Services of Broward County, Florida, Public Schools, as well as "Grandma Ann's" Kindergarten Classroom in Broward County. Mrs. Vella was a parishioner at the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Atlanta, St. Timothy Catholic Church in Lade Lake FL, St. Bernard Catholic Church in Sunrise FL, St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Union NJ and St. Rocco Catholic Church in Newark NJ, where she and her husband were married June 25, 1950. The organizations to which she belonged include Rosary Confraternity at St. Michael's, Hearts with Healers in Lady Lake in addition to the Catholic daughters of America. Other volunteer passions of Mrs. Vella's life include Meals on Wheels in Lady Lake, working with arts and crafts, cooking and entertaining for family and friends and devoting much time and love to her husband and their family, particularly her nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vella was preceded by her sister, Millie Iannarone and brothers, Louis Bove and Michael Bove. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Vella; son and daughter-in-law, John and Carol Vella of Columbia SC; son, Joseph Vella of Decatur; many nieces and nephews. The funeral mass for Ann Vella will be held 7:00 pm, Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, 48 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Atlanta GA 30308, with Monsignor Henry Gracz officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at six o'clock prior to the service. Burial will be next week at Georgia National Cemetery.
