Ann (Annie) Pearl Smith McGlon passed away peacefully in her home on October 24 after a long, happy and successful life. Ann was a farm girl born in 1924, single mother, loyal sister, devoted wife, vibrant grandmother of five and finally a loving great grandmother of twelve and the bedrock of a large, close knit family. She was a single mother long before most and supported her family through a 40 year career with the Atlanta Journal and Constitution where she worked in various jobs followed by a happy retirement filled with travel, camping, boating and family. She married late in life and enjoyed a long and happy marriage to James McGlon (Pop Pop). Throughout her life she was a shining example of hard work, perseverance and loving sweetness to all her knew her and she will be missed by so many. She is survived by her two daughters, Terry Carpenter and Carman Peters, her grandchildren Chris Carpenter, Michelle Katz, Jill Mills, Greta Tinaglia and Zack Peters and by her great grandchildren, Lori Carpenter, Amber Carpenter, Cali Katz, Connor Tinaglia, Sam Katz, Keith Tinaglia, Brooke Mills, Sydney Mills, Dana Carpenter, MJ Tinaglia, Sasha Peters and Aaron Peters. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Sheltering Arms http://www.shelteringarmsforkids.com. Her funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday Oct. 27th at Smoke Rise Baptist Church, 5901 Hugh Howell Road Stone Mountain, GA 30087. The visitation will be on Wednesday Oct 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA 30033.
