Anne Dale Morris, 87, born December 30, 1916, left to be with the Lord on October 18, 2004 at Ocoee Health Care Center in Ocoee, Florida. She was one of the founding members of Saint Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Decatur, Ga. where a funeral Mass will be celebrated in her honor Friday, October 22nd at 10 a.m. Monsignor Paul Fogarty will officiate. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery. Anne resided in Georgia for 84 years. She graduated from Girls High in Atlanta, attended Alverson Draughn Business School. She was a devoted homemaker. Anne is survived by her two sons: Dr. John W. Morris, Jr. married to Elaine Oaks Morris of Gotha, Florida and Joseph A. Morris married to Laura Sherard Morris of Atlanta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John W. Morris Sr., and her grandson, Patrick Quenton Morris. She has five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She contributed to medical history by being one of the first patients to be placed on the then new kidney dialysis machine in 1951 which was at Peter Brent Brigham Hospital in Boston. Due to the fact that it was Christmas time, there were no airplane seats available to Boston; so a story was printed in the Atlanta paper about her critical life-threatening condition, asking for volunteers to give up seats. Two tickets were donated on an Eastern Airlines flight, and Anne was flown, accompanied by the noted Atlanta surgeon, Dr. Willis Hurst, who sat on the floor in front of her to allow Anne to lie down. She remained in Boston for three months, and thanks to the new medical equipment, the sacrificial action of Dr. Hurst, and many prayers, she survived. Upon her return, she was then pictured on the front page of the Atlanta Journal smiling, happy, and surrounded by her two loving young sons. A. S. Turner & Sons
