Anne Reder-Bessent, RN, MN, CSN, of Decatur died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Hospice Atlanta. Born July 21, 1945 in New York City, Anne was raised in New Jersey and received her RN degree from Seton Hall University. She worked at Georgetown Hospital in Washington, DC. Before moving to Atlanta to receive her master?s degree in public health nursing from Emory University, Anne was a liaison nurse with the Maternal and Infant Care Project and the Regional Perinatal Center at Grady Hospital and taught nursing at Brenau. Later she was the director of Health Education for Prucare Atlanta. Anne then earned her second master?s degree in psychiatric nursing from Georgia State College. She had a private practice as a therapist for 2 years and then returned to the Grady Psychiatric Emergency Clinic. Until March, 2005, she served at Florida Hall, the outpatient psychiatric unit at Grady Hospital. In addition to nursing, Anne enjoyed performing for several years as an Abominette with the Seed and Feed Marching Abominable Band. Also she tap danced for the last 20 years and enjoyed appearing in many recitals with her daughter through Atlanta Danceworks. She also greatly enjoyed serving on the Flower Guild at the Church of the Epiphany. She is survived by her husband, Eugene C. Bessent; and daughter, Margaret Blair Bessent. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, where her ashes will be interred in the Memorial Garden.
