Annette Louise Mcnaron

August 30, 1945 — June 29, 2018

McNaron, Annette Jackson 72, of Decatur, GA went to be with her Lord on June 29, 2018.


She was preceded in death by her father, James Marvin Jackson, brother Harold Monroe Jackson, and sister Susan Lynn Jackson..


She is survived by her mother Louise Hall Jackson, Tallassee, AL, brother Jim Jackson (Betty) Tallassee, AL and son Harold McNaron, Portland, OR. She is also survived by nephew Scott Jackson (Leah), Northampton, MA; nieces Kimberly Teater (Paul) Niceville, FL; and Kristen Gay (Brian), Montgomery, AL and 7 grand nieces and nephews.


Annette was born August 30, 1945 in Bangor, ME. She completed a bachelor’s degree at Judson College (AL) and a master’s in theological studies at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (KY). Most recently she was a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur, GA. She had also been a member and active lay leader at New Covenant Community Church, Peachtree Baptist Church and Mt. Paran Church of God.


After a short stint as an high school English teacher, Annette realized her passion for social work, serving in various capacities for 34 years. First working with children and youth, she transitioned to working with elderly folks, serving as a case manager, moving on to supervisory positions at the local level and eventually transitioning to statewide work to ensure that facilities all over the state had access to best practices and protocols.


Annette’s smile, kindness and generosity will be greatly missed by all who knew her.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the First Baptist Church Decatur Assistance Ministry, where Annette volunteered.


The memorial service will be at First Baptist Church of Decatur on July, 9 at 6 PM, with Revs. Sharyn Dowd, Jim Jackson and Ann Temkin officiating.
