A resident of Avondale Estates for 47 years, Annette was the owner of Sportswear Outlet Inc., the first discount store in the southeast, selling White Stag overruns and seconds. Sportswear Outlet Inc. became “The Avondale Ski Shop” in the late 60’s when the business’ focus went to snow skiing. Annette also worked in the Avondale Realty Co. with her husband George F. Ford who died in 1981. Annette was active in the Pilot Club of Decatur (Professional Service Organization) serving as vice president and president (more than once), Governor of the GeorgiaDistrict and Delegate at Pilot International conventions. Annette served in numerous service organizations during the years, most recently as the president of Georgia Artists with Disabilities. Annette loved people and there was always new and old friends at all the holidays and family gatherings. Annette Spradley Ford died Sunday, September 14th. Annette was born in South Carolina and is survived by her sisters, Norma Spradley Grice of Winnsboro, SC and Sylvia Spradley McCormick of Anderson, SC; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Ford of Cumming, Karen Ford and Ronald N. Jenkins of Avondale Estates and Cynthia Ford and Michael J. Finney of Lawrenceville, six grand children, Kari Jenkins Grams, Kelly Jenkins, Kayce Jenkins, Jason Finney, Ryan Finney, Carson Finney and one great-grand child, Korinne Grams. The family will be at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Wednesday September 17th. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday September 18th at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home in Decatur, GA with interment to follow at FloralHillsMemoryGardens, 3000 Lawrenceville Hwy., Tucker, and GA 30084.
