Annie Belle Chaffin

Annie Belle Mitchell Chaffin, 97, of Snellville, GA passed away on Monday September 29, 2014. A native of DeKalb County born July 30, 1917, she was the daughter of Edgar and Sarah Blalock Mitchell. After retiring as a lunch room dietician at Avondale High School and Glen Haven Elementary School she drove a school bus for five years. Anne loved her family and friends. She was charitable and loved helping people. She had many hobbies over the years including cooking, traveling, cake decorating, macramé, ceramics, flower arranging, and crocheting crafts. Anne married Clemmett H. Chaffin, a builder in DeKalb and Gwinnett Co. on March 23, 1935. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage before his death on August 18, 1994. Both were members at Glen Haven Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by their son, Lewis Carlton Chaffin. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Chaffin of Snellville; grandsons, Chip & Lori Chaffin of Pendergrass, Christopher & Misty Chaffin of Austin, TX, Chad & Emily Chaffin of Guyton; granddaughters, Carmen & Alan Singleton of Snellville, Jennifer & Brad Jones of Braselton; great grandchildren Curtis, Blake, Chase, Joshua, Megan, Bryan, Conner, Cole, Katie, and C.J. ; great-great grandchildren Ansley and Thatcher; and brothers & sisters, Gladys Smith of Conyers, Charlie & Mary Mitchell of Loganville, and Allen & Dot Mitchell of Hartwell. Her funeral services will be held on Saturday October 4th from the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home at 10:00 am with Rev. Ralph Easterwood officiating. Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday October 3 from 1:00 to 8:00 pm at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home.
