Annie Frances  Barton Stansell

February 4, 1922 — November 21, 2008

Frances Barton Stansell, age 86, of Atlanta, GA, entered the Church Trimphant on November 21, 2008.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert W. Stansell, Sr.  Mrs. Stansell was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother.  Gentle, loving, and generous in spirit, she was a blessing to all who knew her.  Intelligent and tenacious in her professional life, she was a successful entrepreneur, establishing two businesses in Atlanta.  Joyful and faithful in her belief in Christ, she was an active member of Shallowford Presbyterian Church, where she worshipped regularly, and participated in the Alzheimer’s Support Group and other church activities.  She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Skip and Peggy Stansell of Clinton, SC; her granddaughter, Neely Stansell-Simpson and her husband David Simpson of Greenville, SC; her daughter and son-in-law, Sharman and Kevin Egan of Mobile, AL; her sisters, Janelle Gilman, Patricia Hunnicutt; and her brother, Lamar Barton.  A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 25th at 2:00 pm at Shallowford Presbyterian Church, 2375 Shallowford Road, NE, Atlanta.    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Thornwell Home for Children, PO Box 60, Clinton, SC 29325, or to Shallowford Presbyterian Church at the address listed above.  The family will receive friends at the church after the service and from 3 to 5 pm Sunday, November 23, at A. S. Turner & Sons, 2773 N. Decatur Road, Decatur, GA.
