Ann Morris (Annie Laurie) Taylor, 93, a longtime resident of Decatur, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2015 in her home of natural causes. She was born March 17, 1922 in Waynesboro, GA to the late E.G. and Ouida Mae Morris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Herbert (Herb) Taylor and her second husband, Frederick (Fred) Benjamin Taylor, as well as a brother, Robert (Bob) Morris. Ann graduated Waynesboro High School in 1939. She attended the University of Georgia where she graduated in 1944 with a B. A. in Music. She worked, for a brief time from June, 1944 - April, 1945, during WWII, for Military Intelligence, Division War Department. She played piano, while Herb played trumpet, in the Herb Taylor Orchestra in clubs in the Atlanta area and the Carolinas in the late 1940's. After Herb's death in 1961, she worked for Safeco Insurance and then First Union Bank for decades. She was a member of North Decatur United Methodist Church for many years. Ann and Fred later joined Atlanta First United Methodist Church on January 1, 1989. She was an active member of the MACO Sunday School Class playing piano for the class every Sunday. She enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband, Fred and later with wonderful friends that she made at Clairmont Place, where she resided until her death. She loved to attend concerts and plays and was always on the go. She made the annual trip to Epworth-by-the-Sea on St. Simons Island with other members of Atlanta First United Methodist Church every year. Ann is survived by her sister, Ruth Mack of Huntsville, AL; children, Anne Taylor of Malibu, CA; Thomas (Tom) Herbert Taylor, Jr., of Atlanta, GA and Susan Harriett Taylor Pew (Rob) of Woody Creek, CO. Also surviving is stepdaughter, Lisa Dittrich (Walt) of Aurora, OH. She leaves behind three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, loving family and friends as well as devoted caregivers. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons on Saturday December 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 3000 Lawrenceville Hwy., Tucker, GA. Remembrances can be made to the United Methodist Children's Home, 500 S. Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA 30030; North Decatur United Methodist Church, 1523 Church Street, Decatur, GA 30030 or Atlanta First United Methodist Church, 360 Peachtree Street, NE, Atlanta, GA 30308. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 5 pm until 7 pm at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
