Annie Thelma Gibson

Thelma Bates Gibson left this earth to be with our Lord on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Lily Home in Atlanta, GA. She was born November 16, 1919, and was married for 74 years to James Harold Gibson. She lived most of her life in Norway, SC, and she and Harold were long time members of Willow Swamp Baptist Church.



She was the daughter of McQueen Bates and Martha Annie Fogle Bates. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Waymon Deering Gibson, sister Ruby McLaurin, brothers Kelly Bates, Cecil Bates, and Harvey Bates.



She is survived by three children: Tommy Gibson of Norway, SC, Sherry Warner of Atlanta, GA, and Linda Tong of Buffalo, Texas, thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.



Her passions were spending time with her family and friends, her faith in God, entertaining, cooking, canning, baking and gardening. She is lovingly remembered and greatly missed.



A memorial was held at Lily Home on May, 28th, with immediate family, residents and staff of Lily Home. The family expresses its deepest appreciation to the owners and staff at Lily Home for their care and devotion for the past three years.
