Arthur Hobart "Hoby" Warner, III, 72, passed away on Thursday July 14, 2016. He was born on May 15, 1944, to Arthur and Caroline Warner. He was a beloved father, uncle, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family. As a child, Hoby traveled frequently with his family from New London to California and back during his father's career in the U.S. Navy. Hoby attended Middlesex boarding school in Boston and, subsequently, the University of Virginia, where he made enduring friendships that have stood the test of time. He often told his daughters of his college career, "work hard, play hard" — an indication of the joy he took in his friends and fraternity at UVA. After college, he courageously served his country in the Vietnam War, receiving a Bronze Star from the United States Army. Following his service, he pursued a Masters in Business Administration at Emory University. Hoby spent his adulthood in Atlanta, where he raised his family with his former spouse, Anne Bradford Warner, and a wide network of family and friends. He worked as an investment manager for Manufacturers Hanover, later Mitchell Hutchins. Hoby will be remembered for the great joy he took in life from his family, especially his grandchildren, golfing, sports, trips to the beach, and his most enduring friendships. He is survived by his two daughters, Catharine Griffin and Dru Gearhart, their spouses, and his six grandchildren, Warner, J.P. and Ford Gearhart, and Jack, Annie and Edward Griffin; his sister and brother-in-law, Lina and Don Wessels; his brother, Daniel Warner; his six nephews, Ben, Andy, Thomas and Matt Wessels and Dan and Charles Warner; and his former spouse, Anne Bradford Warner. He will be forever in their hearts... laughing, coaching, loving. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to make a donation in honor of Hoby Warner to the Army Emergency Relief Fund. A celebration of life and burial will be held on Sunday July 24, 2016, at 3:00 p.m at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Decatur, Georgia. A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory
