Asimakas Mike John Alex

Mike John Alex, 86, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Mike is a graduate of Emory University where he majored in his passion, history. He also served in the U.S. Navy. He absolutely loved college football, especially the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets! Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Beverly Alex. He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Evelyn Alex; his sister Dorothy and his parents, John and Mary. He is survived by and was an adoring father to his children, Leslye Alex Phillips (Alan Phillips), John Alex (Victoria Kantsios Alex), and Michelle Alex Thompson (Craig Thompson). He also adored his grandchildren, Lea Phillips Manley (Mike), Erin Phillips Sullivan (Garrett), Jared Neil, and Alexis Neil. He was blessed to have a great granddaughter, Evelyn Sullivan and an angel of a foster great grandson. The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, January 25th at A. S. Turner Funeral Home in Decatur, GA from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be Friday, January 26th at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation in Atlanta, GA at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Geek Orthodox Cathedral.
