Ava Waller Lamar

November 1, 1921 — July 16, 2016

Ava Waller Lamar, 94, of Atlanta, passed away July 16, 2016. She was born in Milledgeville, Georgia on November 1, 1921 to the late Luda Paschal Waller and Issac Roland Waller. Ava enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, sewing and playing cards. She was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Lucius James Lamar, daughter Bonnie Waller Lamar, sister Elise Waller (Jimmy) Moore, and her son-in-law Richard Dean Herron.

She loved her family and her very special friends and enjoyed being with them. She is survived by her daughter Diane Lamar Herron of Estill Springs, TN. She was very proud of her grandsons James Grooms (Christa) Herron of Estill Springs, TN, Richard Lamar Herron of Nashville, TN, and her great granddaughters Shelby Elizabeth Herron of Nashville, TN and Lindsay Elise Herron of Estill Springs, TN, her nieces Judy Moore (Robert) Radovich of Cumming, GA, Carole Jane Moore of Trenton, GA and her nephew Guerry Roland (Babs) Moore of Atlanta, GA.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Grace United Methodist Church – 458 Ponce de Leon Avenue, N.E., Atlanta, GA 30329.

A graveside service will be conducted at the Memory Hill Cemetery on West Franklin Street in Milledgeville, Georgia on Saturday, September 17th at 1:00 pm.

Arrangements to be handled by A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home of Decatur, GA and Moores Funeral Home of Milledgeville GA.
