Avanelle Meacham Prather, age 84, died February 5, 2010, in Decatur, Georgia. Mrs. Prather was born September 25, 1925 in LaGrange, the daughter of the late Walter E. Meacham and Ethel Maude Lester Meacham. She married in 1950 to Sherman Calhoun Prather. Mrs. Prather was a member of the Avondale Church of Christ since 1956, and she was for 30 years a bookkeeper for Sinclair Oil Company. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Buford B. Meacham and Clarence J. Meacham. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Lois Marlene Meacham Wall of Norcross, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 8, 2010, in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home, Decatur, Georgia, with burial to follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3PM to 5 PM on Sunday February 7, 2010, at A. S. Turner and Sons.
