B. F. "Frank" King

March 6, 1937 — January 24, 2008

oyd Franklin "Frank" King passed away on Thursday, January 24th, at the age of 70. He was the loving husband of Robbie Whaley King and father of son Adam B. King. Born in Knoxville, TN in 1937, he attended Central High School in Fountain City.  He received a BS degree from the University of Tennessee and did graduate study in economics at Vanderbilt University. King taught economics at Georgetown University from 1964 to 1969. In the fall of 1969, he joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta as an economist in the research department. He was promoted to research officer in 1973, where he led a team conducting research on financial regulation and innovation issues. In 1984, he was promoted to vice president and associate director of research with responsibility for department planning, policy support and administration. He retired in 2000 after 31 years. Throughout his career, King made many valuable contributions to the Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank's work in banking and monetary policy research. King was an active member of Oakhurst Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and assumed many leadership roles. He was known for his wry sense of humor and the kindness and respect which he showed for all who knew him. The family will receive friends at A. S. Turner Funeral Home in Decatur, GA on Thursday, January 31st, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 1st, at 3:00 PM at Oakhurst Baptist Church in Decatur with a reception following.
