Mr. B. Lane Walters, Jr., age 72, of Covington died Tuesday, December 15, 2009. Born in Soperton, GA, Mr. Walters grew up in Fitzgerald before moving to the Atlanta area. He attended South Georgia College and the University of Georgia. He served in the National Guard and retired from General Electric with over 25 years of service. Mr. Walters is survived by his sister, Jeannie Walters Worlock of Stone Mountain; his companion, Betty Strange of Conyers; nephews, Captain Travis Worlock, U. S. Special Forces, Ft. Bragg, NC, Todd Worlock of Buford, GA; step children, David Craig of Covington, Christy Sowell of Jasper; ten grandchildren; and seven great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 18, 2009 at 10:30 A. M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with the Rev. Kyle Kormeier officiating. Graveside services will be 4:00 P.M. in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald, GA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans of America, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
