Barbara Farran Vincent

Barbara Vincent died August 27, 2019 at the age of 91. She was born in the Little Five Points area on August 13, 1928. She and the Varsity were both born in the same year. It was a place where she and her future husband dated and she enjoyed many hot dogs. Barbara graduated from Hapeville High School and worked for Southern Bell before her marriage. She later worked for Dekalb County managing the swimming pools and later at the Solicitor’s office. In her retirement, she enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to Art festivals and shopping with her daughters and grand-daughter. She went shopping for new shoes a couple of weeks ago and had a grand time. She also enjoyed watching old westerns on tv which she called her “Cowboys”. She was living at Benton House in Decatur at the time of her passing. She will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents Buster and Margaret Farran, her husband Howard Vincent and brother Tommy Farran. She is survived by her children Diane Young (Danny), Robert Vincent (Wanda), and Holly Vincent. Her grandchildren Denny Shine (Jaime), Dana Shine, Craig Young (Alyse) and Brad Young (Kacey). Great grandchildren Anna Staples, Ava Staples, Kale Young, Josey Young and Grayson Shine.
Services for Barbara will be 12:00 pm, Saturday, August 31, 2019 in the chapel of A.S. Turner's and Sons in Decatur. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until the time of the service
