Barbara Kidder Greenig, 88, of Decatur and Hiwassee, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, October 10th, 2017. Born in Anamosa, Iowa, September 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Mr. Paul Wesley Kidder, Sr. and Dorothy Adiline Hill Kidder.
Barbara graduated from Atlanta Girls High and the University of Georgia. She love animals and helped her husband at Dearborn Animal Hospital in Decatur for 35 years. She was also an avid life-long Bulldog fan, having season tickets for numerous years and faithfully watching them on TV after that. She was a longtime member of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church before she joined Decatur First United Methodist Church some 25 years ago. While her health permitted, she was active in the Women of the Church, and especially enjoyed her work with the Breakthru House. She was an avid bridge player, spending time in the mountains, and above all she loved and enjoyed her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Kay Greenig and Dody Greenig Arrendale; son-in-law Dan Arrendale; two grandchildren, Charlie and Mollie; brother, James William Kidder, and his wife Margaret, and their children Sandra, Michael, Karen, and James Tyson; sister-in-law, Margie, and children, James W., Paula, and Paul III; and many more loving family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Dr. Charles A. Greening III, and her brother, Paul Wesley Kidder Jr.
The family will receive visitors of Friday, October 13th, 2017 from 12:30 PM-2:00 PM, with the service beginning at 2:00 PM at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine 501 D.W. Brooks Drive, Athens, GA 30602, Attn: External Affairs, or to your favorite charity.
