Barbara Jean Little, 86, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on May13, 2020, and is now in the presence of the Lord. Jean, as she was known, was born in Douglasville, GA on Jan 20, 1934 to the late E.G. and Maude Hipp. She grew up in Atlanta & Douglasville, graduated from Brown H.S. in Atlanta, and got married to Arlen M Little in 1953.
Jean worked in her early years as a secretary and transcriptionist before starting a family. Then she became office manager for Coin Device Service, the family business. Jean was loved by many and was a source of encouragement and wisdom to many young people over the years. She had a great sense of fun and was always looking for ways to serve her family. Chicken Casserole, Lemon Pie, and Mississippi Mud Cake were family favorites and she supplied generously to family members who so much as experienced a sniffle.
Jean loved music and grew up singing with her brothers and sisters as they gathered around the piano at family gatherings. A beautiful woman both inside and out, she was a longtime choir member at Northeast Baptist and Briarlake Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Arlen M Little. She is survived by her children Susan Knight and son-in-law Robert, Kevin Little, Jeff Little and daughter-in-law, Caroline.
Jean has four Grandchildren, Andrew Knight and wife, Sara, Jason Knight, Ally Rohletter and husband David, and Mitch Little.
Jean has four Great-Grandchildren, Grayson, Jackson, Callum, and Molly Knight
She also has numerous nieces and nephews and was blessed to have 7 brothers and sisters whom she loved dearly; Virgil, Lucile, Carless, Virginia, and Bobby preceded her in death, and she is survived by two sisters, Sybil and Shirley. “The sisters” were and are very close, and they have shared many wonderful memories together.
A private graveside service will be held at Arlington Cemetery in Sandy Springs, GA
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to a charity of your choice, or The Phoenix at Tucker, 2060 Idlewood Rd, Tucker, GA 30084. Please designate Memory Care Facility for furniture, equipment, or décor, etc. The staff at this facility were very compassionate and loving to our mom.
