Mr. Basil V. Franklin, 91, of Atlanta, died Thursday, May 21, 2009. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U. S. Army. Mr. Franklin was with the telephone company for 42 years. He was a member and deacon at Briarcliff Baptist Church. Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Miles Franklin. He is survived by his daughters, Gail Franklin of Demorest, GA, Dianne Bland of Duluth, GA; son, Butch Franklin of Toccoa, GA; two grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 24th at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Dr. Bill Bigger and Dr. B. V. Franklin, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Marietta City Cemetery. Those desiring may send contributions to Briarcliff Baptist Church, 3039 Briarcliff Rd., NE, Atlanta, GA 30329. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. at A. S. Turner & Sons.
