Bea Murphy Mcgovern

Beatrice "Bea" Murphy McGovern, age 90, of Atlanta, GA died on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, after a brief stay at Hospice of Chattanooga.  Mrs. McGovern was born in Bowling Green, KY to T.J. and Caroline Murphy on January 25, 1917.  One of ten children, Mrs. McGovern is survived by one brother, T. J. Murphy, Lexington, KY.  In addition to her parents and siblings, she is predeceased by her husband, James McGovern, granddaughter, Maureen Decker and son-in-law, Garry E. Hill.  A devoted wife of 51 years and mother of three daughters, Mrs. McGovern dedicated her life to her family.  She was a Girl Scout leader, school chaperone, member of the Altar Society and always her husband's first lady during his 26 year career with the F.B.I., and served as an official first lady of the Society of Former Special Agents of the F.B.I.  Mrs. McGovern is a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and has enjoyed scripture study at Immaculate Heart of Mary during the past several years.  Mrs. McGovern is survived by daughters, Maureen McGovern, Atlanta, GA, Carole Ann Busch and son-in-law, Dr. Joe Busch, Chattanooga, TN, Peggy Cook and son-in-law, Ron Cook, Nashville, TN; grandsons, Dr. Jim Busch (Jennifer), Chattanooga, TN; Brian Decker (Mary); granddaughters, Angie McWhirt (Michael), Mt. Pleasant, SC; Carrie Busch, Charleston, SC; and step grandsons, Garry Hill (Laura) and Jonathan Hill, Atlanta, GA; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 6:00 P.M. at A. S. Turner & Sons with the Rosary at 7:00 P.M.  Mass of Resurrection will be officiated by Monsignor Donald Kiernan at 10:30 A.M.
