Bernice Bell Jackson

Bernice Ball Jackson, age 93, passed away on September 17, 2011, at The Mann House in Atlanta. She previously lived at Clairmont Place in Decatur. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Cephus and Ila Ball, and her sisters, Flora Shettlesworth, Doris Bobo and Ferol Burnett. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Clifford Odell Jackson; stepdaughter and husband, Nancy and Charles Ward, M. D. of Decatur; stepdaughter, Toni Wasson Martinez of College Station, Texas; nephew, Donald W. Raines of Charleston, SC; niece and husband, Carol and Will Dibling of Roanoke, VA and their extended families. Bernice graduated from Commercial High School and Atlanta Business School. She retired from Layfield Motor Service after many years of service as a bookkeeper. She was a lifelong member of Epworth United Methodist Church at Candler Park and an active member of the Workers Class. Bernice loved her Lord, entertaining family and friends, traveling, ballroom dancing and cats. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with the Reverend Lisa Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church at Candler Park, 1561 McLendon Ave., Atlanta GA 30307. The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to the service at A. S. Turner & Sons.
