Bertine Tanquary Henderson

Mrs. Bertine T. Henderson, age 91, of Tucker, GA. died on Friday, March 14, 2008 after a long illness. A graduate of Commercial High School, she was secretary for the school during her senior year, was a member of the National Honor Society and received a scholarship to Drake University. Bertine was preceded in death by her husband, W. C. (Hap) Henderson, who died March 27, 2000. After her marriage to Hap, they joined Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, where they enjoyed the Couples' Club and the Men's Club. A 44 year employee of John Deere Company, she was Supervisor of the Stenographic Department, one of four members of the Merit Review Board and served as an Administrative Assistant and Executive Secretary for three different Vice Presidents and General Managers. She retired January 1, 1980, and enjoyed the monthly meetings of the Deerelicts Club.  When she wasn't traveling in her retirement, she loved to play her piano and organ. Bertine is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons on Wednesday, March 19th at 2:00 o'clock with Chaplain Cynthia Mattox officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at A. S. Turner & Sons.
