Mrs. Bessie Burgess Nichols died on Thursday, May 12, 2005, just a few days before her 89th birthday. She was born May 23, 1916 in Greene County, Georgia, to Agnes and Newton Burgess. Mrs. Nichols was a hostess in the Magnolia Room at Rich?s for 28 years and is remembered by many for her gracious hospitality, especially for the Saturday afternoon bridal showers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Franklin Nichols. Survivors are a daughter, Martha Olson of Decatur; a son, Howard and Helen Nichols of Lake Oswego, Oregon; granddaughters, Kelli and Kevin Gownley of Bigfork Montana, Leslie and David Jack of Lake Elmo, Minnesota and Alison Nichols Purrier of Portland, Oregon; two great granddaughters, Summer Lynn and Tess Caroline Jack of Lake Elmo, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews and the wonderful loving, caring people at Lily Homes ? we love you all!! Visitation will be held at A. S. Turner & Sons, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur on Saturday, May 14, 1:30 to 3:30 PM, followed by a graveside service, with Dr. George Wirth officiating, at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 3000 Lawrenceville Road, Tucker at 4 PM.
