Mrs. John “Bessie Mae” Williams, 95, of Roswell, formerly of Avondale Estates died Sunday, January 4, 2009. She was a Charter Member and first President of the Avondale Estates Garden Club. Mrs. Williams was a member of Decatur First United Methodist Church, a Girl Scout leader, and a member of the Decatur Civic Chorus. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Williams; daughter, Martha W. Fuller; great-granddaughter, Alison Anton; and son-in-law, Bob Smith. Surviving are her daughter, Betty W. Smith of Roswell, GA; sister-in-law, Margaret Travis; son-in-law, Mick Fuller; seven grandchildren, Ray and Becky Henderson, Genevieve and Mike Anton, Greg and Sheila Henderson, Joann and Brian Raybon, John and Stacey Nunnery, Elizabeth and Joe Taylor, Jennifer and Dale McVay; and eleven great grandchildren. A celebration of Mrs. Williams’s life will be held Saturday, January 10th at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Dr. Mike Long officiating.
