Bettie Ruth Dickson

Bettie Ruth Blackwell Dickson was born to Preston Lee Blackwell and Pearl Abney Blackwell February 25, 1919 in Newton Mississippi. Her brother, Dr. Frank M. Blackwell pre-deceased her in 1980.  She was a graduate of Mississippi University for Women with a B. S. in Home Economics, and a Master of Science in Textiles from Auburn University.  She married Fred James Dickson on July 29, 1939.  They observed their 50th wedding anniversary before Fred?s death. She was a teacher before retiring to raise a son, James Preston Dickson and devoted her time to her family. Born into a strong Methodist home, she served in many rolls of leadership and activity before coming to Georgia. She is survived by her son, James P. (Jim) Dickson.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 15th in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons.  Interment Floral Hills Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
